Electric Package 3

Adding the MIDI Interface…

Package 3 has all the features described in packages 1 &2 with the addition of the MIDI Interface. The MIDI interface does not produce MIDI synthesized instruments but rather produces data to a guitar synthesizer such as a Roland GR33 or GR55. The interface is via a 13 pin cable. Signals on the cable include data for each string as well as a control voltage and a toggle switch for changing instrument patches. Pin 7 of the cable is the blended magnetic and piezo signal that is present on the 1/4” jack. The control voltage is typically used for MIDI volume but can be programmed in the synthesizer for several other purposes. When the 13 pin cable is plugged in, power for the instrument is supplied by the synthesizer.

Currently, Stephen prefers the older technology GR33 as it tracks better and has a bit better sound in his opinion. We have found them readily available on ebay and at stores like Sweetwater.
